So my website has content, a blog, portfolio, etc. etc. You probably thought I have some fancy CMS running on the back end to keep it updated. Boy did I fool you! I was in too big of a hurry to get my site launched to take the time and put it on a proper CMS system. As a result everytime I wanted to update the site I had to touch a handful of files and that began to become a real pain. I am proud to announce that I have finally taken the time to hook this site up to a CMS.
I looked a ton of different systems, some were simple content editors, some were the full-blown real deal. I wanted to learn something powerful that I could use on multiple projects. I found modx and fell in love with the system and the community around it. There were a few challenges for the non-programmer type like myself but overall it was super simple. Within one day I had the site to where I could create simple content pages, my only real struggles were getting the new site to mirror the old site exactly. I didn't want to cut any corners on my design and with a little effort modx was able to do anything that I wanted it to do.
Before if I wanted to just make a quick post, like this one, there was just too much involved and I would just wait until I had something big to post. I hope with this system I can begin to make more regular posts on the site. Keep checking back, I have good (hopefully screen-cast) post coming up soon!
